As diverse as Southern Africa and their roots in the different ethnic groups so are the songs of this album representing the people, countries, and cultures as each have their own musical folk traditions partly presented on this album. The typical instruments such as mbira, marimba, mouth bow, Ukapika and Etouffe guitar style, valiha harp, and marovany zither are showcased as well as vocals from the Shona people, Zulu, Bantu, and Amampondo style. The percussion and drum arrangements play a prominent role in South African music as traditionally the music relies heavily on rhythms and grooves.
